Anti-Wrinkle Injections vs Dermal Fillers: The Difference

Anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers are two of the most requested treatments in aesthetics, and they are often mistaken for one another. In fact they do very different jobs, and understanding the difference is the first step to a natural result.

Anti-wrinkle injections: relax

These use a purified form of botulinum toxin to gently relax the small muscles responsible for expression lines, most commonly frown lines, forehead lines and crow's feet. By softening that movement, the skin above has a chance to smooth out, giving a refreshed, rested appearance without looking frozen.

Dermal fillers: restore

Fillers use hyaluronic acid gels to restore volume lost with age and to enhance facial contours. They are ideal for plumping lips, defining cheekbones and the jawline, softening deeper folds and restoring structure where the face has begun to flatten.

Which is right for you?

As a simple rule of thumb: lines caused by movement usually respond best to anti-wrinkle injections, while lines and hollows caused by lost volume are better suited to fillers. Many people benefit from a carefully balanced combination of both.

The best way to know is a consultation, where your clinician will assess your face at rest and in movement and recommend the safest, most natural approach for you.
